a great day for coastline's staff conference

"Dear Viv

I would like to formally thank you for the role that you and your colleagues at Nelson Training played in Coastline's Staff Conference last week.

As ever, we started the day with a few sceptics in the room but I am sure that many, if not all were converted by the great work done by the team from Nelson Training.

..All the anecdotal feedback that I have received from across the Company suggests that the conference was a great success. On the day, you and your colleagues were the major contributors to that success."
Bjorn Howard
Chief Executive Officer
Coastline Housing Ltd

Coastline Housing celebrated it's 10th birthday with it's annual staff conference. Their enthusiastic and energetic organising committee chose Nelson Training to make the day a fun but team building day with the theme of 'One Coastline'.

The day started with "Mrs Taylor the cleaner"- AKA the inimitable Betty Coltrane urging everyone to keep the place clean and tidy. Viv Nelson then introduced Bjorn Howard, the CEO who kindly allowed his speech to be interrupted by two "latecomers" - one in a tiger suit (she thought it was fancy dress!). This introduced two more of our comic actors - Keeley Harker and Iain James.

Bjorn was followed by one of our classic customer care forum theatre pieces "a Day in the Life" where everything that could go wrong with a simple repair does go wrong - but it all ends happily as the audience puts it right! The others were joined by local actor Belinda Lazenby for this.

A fine day meant that the next activity was a sand sculpture competition on the beach where 10 teams of people who didn't normally work woith each other made incredibly creative sculptures using just sand and anything else they could find on the beach.

This was followed by another interactive sketch where the delegates ran a residents' meeting.

During lunch the amazing Ollie Mealing - close hand magician extraodinaire went round the tables with his magic card tricks whilst Iain showed people how to juggle.

In the afternoon there was a "How much do you know about Coastline?" quiz using electronic voting buttons supplied and operated by John Porter of Votech.

New teams were then formed so everybody met another 10 people they hadn't worked with before and it was out to the beach again for the "great egg leaping" contest where teams had to devise a means of throwing raw eggs the greatest distance without breaking them using onlyn paper cups and drinking straws.

Then it was back to the hall for electronic voting on the sand sculpture competition, prize giving and the cutting of the celebratory birthday cake by Bjorn "assisted" by Mrs Taylor.

If you would like your conference to go with a bit more pzazz then why don't you email viv@nelsontraining.co.uk and we'll be pleased to come up with more ways to make your
